I was doing some research today on search engines and found this…it’s the latest info I could find (May 2004). The article is about what search engines are being used the most. They say that (to no one’s surprise) that Google has the largest share (almost 37%), followed by Yahoo (almost 27%), MSN (almost 15%), and AOL (almost 13%). That means that the top 4 search engines own about 92% of the market share.
It’s good to keep these percentages in mind as you optimize your sites for the search engines. From these numbers, you can make sure you’re focusing on the top 4: Google, Yahoo, MSN, and AOL.
Which search engine do you use the most when you are looking for a website?
