Keywords are the words or phrases people type into a search engine to try and find what they are looking for. So how will a search engine give results that the searcher wants? It will try and match websites that seem to be about those keywords, rank them according to their own criteria, then display them for the searcher to choose from.
But how do you know what people are searching for?
There are many ways to find out, but reading this article called The Keyword Tools Trap by Scottie Claiborne will help you figure that out. She lists several tools you can use to find out what keywords are currently being searched for.
After you decide on your keywords, you can design your marketing and copy focused on these keywords. Doing this helps make your site more effective because you’re trying to attract the right people to come.
