I’ve noticed a phenomenon that I’m calling “Website Launch Anxiety”. It’s that anxious feeling one (or a group) gets when they know a new website is about to be launched. The anxiety grows more the closer you get to launch date…and grows exponentially when it’s after the proposed launch date and it hasn’t been launched yet! It has the potential to work against you. It’s worked against me.
It’s bad because it can force decisions to be made that shouldn’t be made. For instance, there might be some design issues or strategies that have not been thought out thoroughly enough. The anxiety may say, “well launch it anyway”. Sometimes the things overlooked could serve to be detrimental to the branding of the site.
We have to learn to control that anxiety so that sound reason, good planning, and quality strategy can be done. Don’t launch before all aspects of the site are well enough.
That’s not to say you can launch and make changes, additions, and tweaks later. But don’t let the anticipation of the launch cloud those decisions.

i agree. i think when there is a whole team involved there is so much vested interest that everyone checks the site over and finds something wrong with it. All those things you coulda just dealt with beforehand come back and bite you…in the form of many emails, phone calls, and other time burglars. take the time to do things right the first time is always a good policy.
