Word of Mouth at effective web ministry notes

Word of Mouth

My wife and I were out shopping yesterday and we were in a specialty store where the guy working there was able to spend a lot of time with us…and of course us with him. Thoughout our conversation, he wanted to know more about us. As time went on in the conversation, he found out we’re missionaries and we do Internet ministry. “That’s like, the direct opposite of internet porn, eh?” he commented. “Yeah, something like that” we replied.

He was interested in the whole concept of “having something good” and “worthy” online. He used to go to church and is even sympathetic towards Christians in general (he likes them and sees value in Christianity). He wanted to go to a website that would show him what this “good stuff online” was all about.

So, the question to you is, where would you send him? If this were you and you just met someone, you know a bit about their experience with Christians, and they want to check out a website, where would you send them? You certainly wouldn’t send them to just any Christian website, would you? Hopefully you’d think about what sites would cater better to his needs and his life. Hopefully you’d send him to a site that you know to be effective in ministry.

Think about this for a moment in regards to your ministry site(s). Are they good enough to tell a stranger face to face they should visit it? Even better, would someone else mention your site in this situation?

Effectiveness isn’t just getting the job done online. Effectiveness is also building a reputation that you’ve doing a good job in ministry. This isn’t to say that we boast, but we when one site is being effective in ministry, others should know about it also. As it turns out, ChurchMarketingSucks.com dove into this topic today so check it out also.
