There has been a lot of talk about the major search engines making local search available. It works quite well.
At Christmas, our family decided to go to a restaurant that allowed us to call ahead to put our name on the wait list. When we decided to call, we had to look up the phone number. My sister went straight for the phone book. I grabbed my laptop. The race was on! I went to local.yahoo.com and typed in the name of the resturant and the city. Within seconds, I had the phone number. My sister hadn’t even found the “r” section of the phone book.
More and more people are going to the web to do local searches. Sometimes people are going to want to find a local church, a local business, or a local ministry to deal with. So learning how to market yourself to your geographic local is important.
My friend Dr. Ralph Wilson has written a new eBook entitled How to Promote Your Local Business on the Internet. It’s something I’m planning to look into soon, but I wanted to pass along this note to you now. Check it out. You can also get a printed version if you don’t like eBooks. His writing style is very clean and easy to understand. Though I’ve not read this book, I’ve read many of his others and I can say with much confidence that this one will be great also.
