I think Gerry McGovern has been reading this blog!
Yeah, right.
But it is good to see when someone else writes on the same things you’ve written on in the past. Makes me feel like I’m on the right track…or at least there’s some other sorry soul on the same path I am!
Gerry writes today in an article entitled Search optimization, not search engine optimization:
Search optimization focuses on how people search. Search engine optimization focuses on how search engines work…if you want to succeed with search engines in the long term, you should not primarily focus on how the search engine works. Rather, you should focus on how the brain of the searcher works. Because if you understand how people search, you’re halfway there to getting found when they search for your content…Remember, getting people to your website is just the first step. Having them complete the task is ultimately what it’s all about.
I couldn’t have said it better myself…though I’ve tried a few times!
