I ran across an interesting observance yesterday I thought I’d share here.
- I started getting 200 visits/day on Saturday on my personal blog. I found out that my blog is/was #2 or 3 for “star wars iii full trailer” in Google. However, I’m not on the first 2 pages of Yahoo for that term.
- I posted the 2004 Florida Hurricane posts on Sunday. Within 24 hours I found that my blog post on the term “2004 Florida Hurricanes” is #6 in Yahoo. However, it’s not on first 2 pages of Google.
I don’t have an explanation for this at all. At first I thought Google did this because that blog has a decent page rank. But that didn’t work for the hurricane posts. But Yahoo seems to index blogs faster. But then why not the post on Star Wars? I just think this is interesting that Google and Yahoo gave opposite results on different phrases. SEO is a real challenge and I think this is SOME proof that you just can’t always be certain you’ll get ranked well for all SE. More reason I endorse the “create a site for people and the SE will follow“.
