Offer what you can, let others do the rest

Great example of a company making a new offering on their website, all the while knowing others offer more. On the Google Blog today they announced they are offering stock quotes in Google searches. To me that’s not what is cool. What is cool is this quote from Google:

There’s a lot of stock info we don’t provide, which is why we link to financial sites like Yahoo Finance and Motley Fool.

They get it. They know their audience wants particular information so they provide it…but link to others (even their competition Yahoo) for more information. They know their audience and try not to reinvent the wheel. They know they won’t be as successful.

Well done, Google. Now if our ministries can remember the same thing. Brian did it and it worked for him. What are you trying?
