Da Vinci Code Responses at effective web ministry notes

Da Vinci Code Responses

Is anyone doing response online ministry to the Da Vinci Code? The movie is sure to be a mega-hit next summer (06) and, similar to The Passion, I think we have an opportunity to minister as a result of this movie…but only if we’re in place before it comes out, not during or after (at least our impact and SE rankings will be higher if we’re early). Leave a comment if you are doing a site for this.

Here’s one I found out about today from the Web Evangelism Bulletin:

…Brad Samuels has developed a website on the Code. He tells his story:

“My background is within marketing services…Most of my colleagues know that I am a Christian and one day I was in a conversation with one of them about my faith and about Jesus Christ when he suddenly said, “Well, Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene… wasn’t he!” When I asked him where he got an idea like that from he asked said “Have you read The Da Vinci Code?”

I had never read The Da Vinci Code and despite telling my colleague that there was no evidence in the Bible to suggest that this was true, I felt inadequate about my inability to adequately defend my faith with informed knowledge of the facts that were pertinent to the issues raised by The Da Vinci Code.

…I searched on the Internet for a Christian response to The Da Vinci Code…information was not easily accessible to anybody looking for it. I knew that other Christians must be in the same position as I am, and therefore I must make quick, relatively short answers that could help Christians to answer their critics or to refer those people who have questions to the website with the answers.

I hope to email all of the people who have visited the website with details of Alpha Course(s) starting in their region. I am also planning to produce some flyers and small business cards for Christians to use.

Visit daVinci-decoded.com for his site.

I am curious about the comment that he could not find good Christian resources on the web. Searching Google led me to the #5 natural (non-purchased) result being The Da Vinci Code: Of Magdalene, Gnostics, the Goddess and the Grail, part of Leadership University’s collection of excellent resources.
