Eric Elder of The Ranch is putting together a free, video-based Bible study on the book of Exodus starting tomorrow. It’s called Exodus: Lessons In Freedom and the purpose of the study is to
help people get free, stay free and set others free.
You can jump in any time and it looks like a great use of online Bible study methods. Here’s part of his press release:
Every Friday morning, Eric will be posting a new, half-hour video on “The Ranch” website that you can watch anytime on your own (or just read the transcript if you don’t have the time or capability to watch the video). If you’d like to go deeper and interact with others around the world who are also doing the study, you can join in on the discussion board at “The Ranch,” or stop by one of the live chats during the week. Eric will be leading a discussion group for men on Sunday nights from 7-8:30 P.M. Central Time, and Greg Potzer (creator of “This Day’s Thought“) will be leading a co-ed discussion group on Wednesday mornings from 7-8:30 A.M. Central Time. Each half-hour video contains a practical lesson from God’s Word, a time of worship, and a time of intimate discussion with others. Although the series will cover the entire book of Exodus, each lesson stands on its own, so you don’t have to watch every message to get something out of it. And like everything else on The Ranch website, there is no charge for watching these lessons or taking part in the
discussions. The first lesson is already posted on the website, and the live discussion groups will begin on Sunday, May 15th (for men), and Wednesday, May 18th (for men and women). You can find out more about the study and hopefully you’ll come back for more after that!

Hi Rob…thanks for posting this announcement. We’re in the second week of the study now…I think it will be interesting to see how it goes over time. We’ve had a number of people check out the first lesson, with about 2,000 clicking on the overview of the study, another 800 clicking on to read Lesson 1, and another 400 at least that have clicked onto the the actual video of the first study. Some people are starting to post comments on the discussion board, and a few, only 2 or 3 so far, are joining the online chat room discussions. So it’s been helpful to see what people are interested in, whether it will create “communities” around the study or not, or just how God might want to use it.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks and post a few thoughts on how it’s going initially.
