Marketers are Storytellers at effective web ministry notes

Marketers are Storytellers

Kevin has a great post called Marketers are Storytellers and it’s worth a read.

I agree with him. Especially in ministry, we need to be telling the story. Life-change stories are the things people want to hear. Facts and figures are interesting and give a real “wow” factor sometimes, but they also blow over people’s heads. Is 1 million visitors in a year a lot? Is 20 visitors a day a lot? How do we compare with other sites?

A lot of people don’t want to know those things. Those are good to communicate, but they are superfluous.

In ministry, people want to know: did someone’s life change as a result of your ministry? Tell me about that person. Tell me a story.

As Jesus often said, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like…[insert story here]”.

I think you’re right. People want to relate to others. They like to know what others in similar situations have gone through.

We include Personal Testimonies and Stories as part of our regular/rotating front page content. They recieve an ‘average’ number of hits/feedback/emailings.
