We know there are 2.5 million cell phones in India. There are 28 million cell phones in Africa. Cell phones are everywhere in Cuba. 93% of Italians have a cell phone.
And that’s just the beginning.
I’m in a discussion over how SMS or text messaging can be used for ministry. I personally think it can be used well for relational ministry. I don’t know that I’d send someone a message and have them pay for it unless I know them or they ask for it.
But I don’t use SMS much. It’s not huge here in the States. But I know that isn’t the case everywhere with other audiences.
Dave Hackett has an interesting post on how he’s benefiting from SMS here in the states. What do you think the role of SMS can play in ministry?
