Boy this is a great article from pastors.com: 8 things pastors need to know about e-ministry. Here’s the eight:
- Your target audience for church growth is Internet-savvy.
- Your Web site will be your “first impression” for many people.
- If you’re not on the Web, you don’t exist to many people.
- Seekers will visit your Web site before attending your services.
- A whole generation exists that will seek “religion” online.
- The Web site is too critical to be run by a volunteer.
- You can’t afford a cheap site.
- People are viewing your current Web site right now.
These points are spot on! I’m the same way. If you are not online I almost don’t know you exist! But don’t just go online just to be online or be seen. Have a plan. If you don’t, you’ll be seen alright, but you’ll be known as someone who doesn’t get it. And if you are targeting people who get it and they see you don’t, well, they’re out and you missed it.
Have a plan. Do your research. Be effective in ministry.
Thanks to Keith for the tip.
