Let me tell you how I met Blake. A while back, I decided to personalize Google and make it my start page. I like it. One of my favorite modules pulls in an image from Flickr’s “Interestingness” list.
Oh wait, I was telling you about Blake. You see, when I clicked on the title of the module, it took me to Blake’s page because he created it. I looked around his site and liked what he was doing so I dropped him an email.
He replied and now we’re tracking each other through RSS and email every so often. Does this sound familiar to you?
Last week Blake started a great series he calls New ways of driving traffic to your site or blog by creating Google modules (and other interesting ideas). He says on the index of this series:
I’m not an expert in marketing or blogging, but I am a good programmer, so my methodology is to create reusable software content rather than reusable knowledge content. This series won’t be particularly technical — I’m not going to teach you how to program — but you’ll probably need to be fairly technical or at least have someone who can develop your idea for you. The reason that I’m qualified to talk about this at all is simply because I’ve done it.
I read through the series last night and could understand the concepts quite well. I haven’t ventured out to make a module, but it’s a great idea. Maybe an eMinistry module could be created?!?!?
Anyway, check out the series and dream a little. He’s got some great tips and ideas for some interestingly new marketing and technology ideas!
