How to Blog a Conference at effective web ministry notes

How to Blog a Conference

Josh Hallett has a great post on How to Blog a Conference. Whew! He goes all out, but I would love to see some Campus Crusade conferences done like this!

Thanks to Steve for the tip.

    Rob,

Don’t know exactly how close we’ll come to Josh’s suggestions, but we are planning some pretty extensive “live blogging” for the Gospelcom Internet Ministry Conference this week in Chicago. We have a number of staff that will be blogging sessions as they attend, a shared Flickr pool for any of the conference attendees to use, digital recorders for recording all sessions (parts of which we’ll use for podcasts throughout the conference). We are also going to be using 37 Signals “Campfire” service to create virtual discussion rooms/sessions for presentations during the conference. All of the above (except for the Campfire discussions) will be available off of the Conference homepage, http://www.gospelcon.org.

Feel free to check us out and see how we do.

Rob: sounds like you have just about everything covered. Be sure to send me a link to the conference blog. I am planning on posting a follow-up to my conference blogging how-to about recent events that used the guidelines.

Good to hear it, Robby. I’ll “tune in”!

Josh, I don’t know when I’ll be able to do this anytime soon. I hope so though!

You know, I was thinking about the offline blogging tools you mentioned, Josh. One other I think you missed is Outlook! I’ve done that before. Set your blog to post via email, then go to Outlook in offline mode and compse emails for each post. If I remember correctly, the time stamp of when you create the post, not send it, is the time stamp the blog gets.

I haven’t set this up for WordPress yet, but intend to.

I used this “tactic” to blog during a hurricane since power kept flickering.
