Major Search Engines Working Together at effective web ministry notes

Major Search Engines Working Together

This week an announcement was made that Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft are now working together standardizing sitemaps.

A sitemap is a file that gets automatically updated every time you change your website and it’s one thing that Google has used for a while now to help it know what’s new on the web. What this announcement says is that it’s not just Google that will look at your sitemap, but Microsoft and Yahoo! will both look it the same way so updates will be more frequent and accurate in all three major engines.

WordPress owners (not the .com’ers) can install a Google Sitemap Plugin that will help.

That’s about all I know about them.
