Joshua 1:8 records counsel from the Lord to Joshua. Joshua is chosen as the leader and prophet of millions of Israelites. He is to follow the incomparable Moses who has led the hard hearted children of Israel from Egypt. The Lord counsels Joshua to meditate night and day in the ‘book of the law’ or the scriptures. Joshua is also told to observe to do according to that which is written. It is not enough to meditate on the scriptures but one must do what is written as well.
The promise the Lord (who cannot lie) gives is that Joshua’s way will be made prosperous and that he should have good success.
These promises are available to us as well.
