CHRISTIANS ONLY-Did Jesus support this command and didn’t he come to set us free from the law?

1Cor.14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Does this mean that Joyce meyer or other female pastors are sinning? Does it mean that the rest of us christian girls trying to spread the word should keep quiet?
Since Jesus told his disciples to go out and make disciples of all means he was talking about everybody, women included.
can someone pls explain to me what is meant by those two contradicting scriptures(and are they really contradicting?) and if we as women are sinning in doing our part in completing the great commission.

1 Corinthians was written by Paul who was working within his social context at that time. Christ did not teach this, but Paul as an apostle gave this as his beliefs according to his times.

Christ while on earth respected women–He helped his mother who asked for help at the wedding at Cana, calling her “woman” not as a derogatory term, but as a matter of respect–she was the woman who gave birth to Him on earth. And as He hung on the Cross, one of His concerns was that His mother Mary be cared for and so He instructed John to do so.

–Many women traveled with him and the disciples who helped support Him in His work.

–Mary and Martha were His close friends and he mourned with them when Lazarus died, even though He knew He would be bringing him back to life very shortly.

–The first person on earth who saw the resurrected Lord was Mary Magdaline who was given the charge to tell the disciples that He lived again. She was sent to help them know that Jesus truly lived again, not as a leader, but as a member of Christ’s Church and “family”.

–When the disciples would have sent the women away with their children they wanted blessed by the Savior, He used it as an opportunity to show the value of each individual and of how we should be. The disciples still were living in their social context–women and children weren’t as “important” as the men were, and they also were trying to allow the Savior to rest, but Christ recognized their needs and worth.

So, I see Paul’s counsel as being rooted in his social background, not as a commandment from God, yet at the same time, he was trying to uphold the basic principle that men hold the leadership role in Church (you don’t have to agree with me, but this is how I see and believe it to be) for the Church as a whole and that women can also hold leadership roles, but not in the same capacity–not as a bishop, or a priesthood type role.

Women can teach classes in a church, on missions, give talks in church, etc., but they should not be the “ruler” or “leader” of a church.

However, I am sure that there are others who will see this as a commandment to still be followed, but I have shared how I see these verses and related verses.
