Looking out for a great ELCA church in the Seattle area? I recommend Faith Lutheran Church off Lake city Way and 82nd. I’ve been an affiliate there my entire life and my grandparents helped found the church, so I am albeit a little biased, but we have great coffee, potlucks and lots of fun Martin Luther accessories on show – so you know we’re serious!
In actual fact we’re a particularly fun-loving and laid back congregation. Plenty of our members joined thanks to the strength of our Sun. faculty program which is very dynamic and takes place at 9:15. Small children are welcome in sunday services and we also have a kid care program available during the time that church runs. There is also a’cry room’ in the back of the church so if you’re sitting with your young child in church and he requires a break you can go into the cry room and still watch the service through the window and hear it over the loudspeakers.
Our Youth priest would probably also would like me to note that we have got a great confirmation program for middle faculty scholars and an excellent youth group for high schoolers. There are even bar theology nights for young adults ( school age and up ).
We have 2 services each Sun. at 800 and 10:30. Sun. college for kids and adults is in between. We also have a fabulous choir, an orchestra made up of volunteers from the congregation, and a handbell choir. Our music director, Nan Beth Walton is gifted and dedicated. She arranges many of the pieces we enjoy in the service.
If you’re a life-long Lutheran, an ELCA transplant from another area, or simply looking for a family-friendly Lutheran church in North Seattle, we invite you to come and visit us. Our guests are always welcomed tenderly by whomever they happen to be sitting next to in church, and the coffee hour after each service usually bosts delicious treats ( brownies and fruit ) as well as a chance to meet more folks and see what the congregation is like.
